At Through the Hayes Optometry, we value our membership in our local "village" of Hayes Valley and firmly believe in
giving back to the community, both locally and globally. To that end, Dr. Langille and her team participate in a number
of programs:
InfantSee
- providing free eye exams to infants under 12 months.

Vision Quest
- providing free eye care and eyewear to needy students in K - 12.
California Vision Project - free exams to uninsured,
low income children and adults.

Hospital de la Familia
Dr. Langille returned to Guatemala in August 2004 after a 10 year hiatus from overseas
volunteer work, bringing her husband for the first time. Philippe was quickly put to good use as an ophthalmic technician
and general controller of traffic. (It's not easy to see 90 patients per day in a small, crowded room!) Together with
a team of 40+ doctors, nurses, technicians and assistants, they provided eyecare and general healthcare to over 1300 individuals
in the jungle town of Nuevo Progreso, San Marcos, Guatemala. For more information and to see several photos of their
trip, follow this link:

Therese and Philippe returned to Nuevo Progreso once again in May 2006. They have vowed to continue doing volunteer
work on a regular basis.
In August of 2008, Dr. Angela Tam made her first visit to Hospital de la Familia. Let's hope she enjoyed a few
well-deserved days off in Antigua after working so hard...
