Our I Care team

Lindsey Trowbridge, Optician Extraordinaire and former Hayes Valley resident, originally hails from Central California. Although she may appear quiet, she has an excellent eye for shapes and color and is not afraid to think outside the box. She is also a Berklee-trained bass player, with a strong passion for anything musical.

Suzy Campbell, Optician Extraordinare and retired Dog Walker. Originally from Santa Cruz, Suzy plays keyboards in a band named BeerCraft. At the last Bay to Breakers, Suzy's band helped energize the runners up the infamous Hayes Street Hill!

Marvin (the marvelous) Van Ekeren is our chief administrator. Without him, we'd all be lost. While away from the office, he's either studying at school or trying to keep his dog Martha from chewing his cell phone.

Dillon and Eric are the newest additions to our team. As opticians in training, and future optometrists, we're keeping them on their toes these days!

Dr. Angela Tam is our optometrist on Tuesday and Sunday. A graduate of the SUNY College of Optometry in New York, she is another local Hayes Valley resident! She has had many years of experience working in a busy ophthalmology practice, treating glaucoma and taking care of pre- and post-operative cataract patients. When she's not busy practicing optometry, she loves to golf, run and spend time with her husband, Anthony, who also works in the neighborhood at the Chinese American International School. Angela recently returned from her first volunteer mission with Hospital de la Familia in Guatemala.

We are also very fortunate to work with Dr. Jamie Hancock on Saturdays. She graduated from UC Berkeley in 1992 and has been with us for the last 3 years. Her other job is being a full time mother to her beautiful daughter Alessi.

Dr. Thérèse Langille graduated from UC Berkeley with her Doctor of Optometry in 1990. She practiced in multiple settings in the Bay Area before deciding to open her own office at Through the Hayes Optometry. Therese loves working with children and has performed hundreds of screenings on children's eyes across the entire Bay Area. She has traveled to Mexico, the Dominican Republic, the Philippines and Guatemala to do volunteer eyecare work. She also believes strongly in giving back to the local community. As part of the Hayes Valley Merchant Association, she has worked to bring toys, food and the arts to disadvantaged individuals in her neighborhood.

Philippe Roth is a native of Alsace, France. He came to the US on a collegiate swimming scholarship and finished his studies with an MBA in marketing at UNC Wilmington. Philippe has been working with French eyewear companies since 1995. He and Thérèse were married in 1997 in the Russian River region. Philippe can occasionally be found visiting at Through the Hayes when he is not busy with his "day job".
