About Us

Dr. Langille and Dr. Tam first met when practicing together with a San Francisco eye surgeon. Since then, they have always respected each other’s professional and personal values. So, it was the most natural move for Dr. Tam to join Through the Hayes Optometry in June 2007. In May 2011, they made it official and are now business partners! After 10 years in solo practice, Dr. Langille is very grateful for the new-found energy and thoughtful input from Angela. With shared goals and like-minded focus on patient care, their partnership brings a great synergy to Through the Hayes Optometry.

Dr. Thérèse Langille

Dr. Thérèse Langille graduated from UC Berkeley School of Optometry in 1990. She practiced in multiple settings in the Bay Area before she opened her own office at Through the Hayes Optometry in 2001. Therese loves working with children and has performed thousands of screenings on children’s eyes across the entire Bay Area. She has traveled to Mexico, the Dominican Republic, the Philippines and Guatemala to do volunteer eyecare work with several organizations. She also believes strongly in giving back to the local community. Her latest passion is working with Project Homeless Connect in San Francisco. Therese’s green initiatives include sourcing local vendors and creating a paper-less office.

Dr. Angela Tam

Dr. Angela Tam graduated from SUNY College of Optometry in New York. After completing a residency in ocular diseases and low vision rehabilitation, she returned to California and spent many years practicing in a busy ophthalmology clinic, treating glaucoma and taking care of pre- and post-operative patients. Angela has also done volunteer work with Hospital de la Familia in Guatemala and Project Homeless Connect in San Francisco. Every September, you will find her running (or walking) at Race For The Cure, a cause near and dear to her family.

Suzy Campbell

In 2003, Suzy Campbell fell into the optical world. As an optician at Through the Hayes, she is able to exude her appreciation for the unique partnership of devoted healthcare, the science behind lens technology and frame mechanics, and the brilliance within the creative design & fashion of independent cutting edge eyewear. When not geeking out optically at Through the Hayes, Suzy enjoys traveling, playing music with her band, and tide pooling.

Erwin Sunga

Erwin joins us after a four year stint at the University of San Francisco where he earned is bachelor’s degree in Biology. With an interest in personal, intuitive healthcare and a fascination with optics, he has found a niche at Through The Hayes. Erwin plans to pursue a career in optometry and turn from optician to O.D. When he’s not in Hayes Valley fitting designer eyewear, Erwin is exploring the city either by foot or on two wheels.

Liezl Sutijono, O.D.

Dr. Sutijono graduated from the Illinois College of Optometry in Chicago. She practiced optometry on the east coast before settling back in the Bay Area. She is a highly-sought-after optometrist, and busy mom of four, so we are fortunate to have her at Through The Hayes regularly.

Greg Oldham

After graduating from Pacific University near Portland, OR with a B.S. in Exercise Science and Sports Medicine, Greg landed in the world of optics and lens manufacturing. The optical lab taught him the nuts and bolts of lenses and progressive designs. When he’s not digging deeper into optics, Greg is always traveling and looking for his new favorite beer, band or podcast-now, with his new wife, Heather!

Rebecca Halliday

Rebecca began her optical career in Santa Cruz, after earning her bachelors degree of arts at UC Santa Cruz.  She is fascinated with the history of fashion and loves to create clothes & accessories. She has a deep appreciation for beautifully designed and crafted eyewear. While she works toward her nursing degree, Rebecca can still be your frame stylist.

Jessica Wong

Jessica currently attends San Francisco State University and is pursuing a degree in Dietetics. She has always been fascinated by anything related to health. Optometry is especially interesting to her because she has been wearing contacts since middle school. She loves learning random facts and watching documentaries. When she is not working at Through The Hayes, she likes to try new restaurants and watch movies.

 Alexa Joseph

Alexa spent her childhood in her parents’ optical stores, but didn’t discover her own passion for opticianry until 2016. A graduate of SF State with a BA in Psychology, Alexa joined Through the Hayes Optometry with a passion for helping folks discover their perfect frame. Alexa believes one can never have too many pairs of glasses and loves to add to her already sizable vintage frame collection. When Alexa isn’t wearing her optician glasses, she’s also a local cabaret performer and can be seen performing all over the Bay Area.
